The Original VOTE Necklace
♻️ Sustainable + Handmade with 💖 in NYC.
Did you know that many of the suffragists who fought so hard for women to get the vote were also sorority women? (And that “suffragettes” was actually considered a derogatory term, even though we see it used everywhere now??)
Well-known suffragists like Carrie Lane Chapman Catt (Pi Beta Phi) and Reverend Doctor Anna Howard Shaw (Kappa Alpha Theta) led the charge for women's voting rights and were integral in securing the passage of the 19th Amendment. Sororities in the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) also played a crucial role. Founding Delta Sigma Theta members Osceola Adams and Ethel Cuff Black were at the forefront, marching in the 1913 Women's Suffrage Parade and advocating for civil rights and voting equality for all women.
Inspired by these incredible women, our original VOTE necklace is a tribute to their courage and a reminder that every voice matters, as much today as it did in 1920 (when the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote was ratified.) Wherever you are, please make a plan to vote on Nov. 5, whether that means using an absentee ballot or finding a ride to your assigned polling place.
Handmade in NYC, our necklaces come in 16-, 18- or 20 -inch solid gold or sterling silver chains, with a ⅔-inch charm. Crafted from sustainable, hypoallergenic .925 sterling silver or ethically sourced solid 14k gold, our VOTE necklace is easy to wear every day.
